I didn't want to spend on accommodation,
so I planned for a one day trip to Hong Kong instead.
I had some cafes sketched out to visit,
and I'm determined to purchase more of my D.Up double eye lid stickers.
I know I swore off eye lid stickers a few posts ago,
but please trust me when I say I look hideous without them!
I need them!
As much as I need food.
I had 2 continuous rest days on Thursday and Friday,
so I decided to depart on Friday.
But due to some unplanned hibernation,
I slept through the entire day on Thursday,
and woke up at 12am+ on Friday.
I forced myself to sleep around 4am,
and woke up to my alarm at 7am.
Hence I'm seriously sleep deprived.
After getting my shower,
I took bus 3A towards the Ferry Terminal,
and caught the 8.30am vessel.
As I arrived at HK,
I immediately took the MTR towards Central station.
My first stop is the Egg Yolk Custard Croissants at Urban Bakery Works, The Landmark.
But due to my ignorance of leaving my to do list at home,
and also due to my stubbornness of not purchasing any data plans and to challenge myself to explore without directions.
I ended up not being able to find the bakery.
But no worries!
Off to the next stop we go!
My second stop on my list,
is the traditional egg tarts at Tai Cheong Cafe.
I walked out of The Landmark,
and followed the map that I screen shot on my mobile the day before.
I looked for The Queen's Street,
and walked straight until I see the Mid Level Escalators that I've visited during my previous trips.
I followed half of the map and half of my instincts,
and TADAH!
I'm lost again.
Well technically, I'm not lost,
I just could not find the bakery!
But fret not!
It must be due to my hunger.
So I settled for kebabs at a restaurant that I spotted along Hollywood Road:
Ebeneezer's Kebabs and Pizzeria

Ebeneezer's Kebabs and Pizzeria
Ebeneezer's was the only restaurant in sight who's opened for breakfast at that time,
so I head in and ordered a Mixed Kebab with lamb and chicken.
I opted for their mild sauce combo which consists of fresh mint and garlic.
The sauce was awesome,
I loved it!
The meat was alright,
not too flavorful,
but everything together makes a nice breakfast.
It costs HKD86.
They offer free WIFI as well,
so I searched for the 2 bakeries that I could not locate earlier.
The Urban Bakery Works is located on the 3rd floor instead of Ground Floor,
and Tai Cheong Bakery is located one street away from the one I looked at earlier.

I went to look for Tai Cheong and there it is!

I practiced self control and bought only 1 of their egg tarts which costs HKD 9.
Hong Kong egg tarts are different from Portuguese egg tarts.
HK egg tarts has a smooth surface as they are baked with shortcrust pastry and not caramelized at the top.

The pastry is crumbly and the egg custard is silky smooth.
Would I come all the way here just to purchase one?
Maybe not.
But will I purchase it if I happened to be nearby?
Yes I will!
I ate my tart as I walked back to The Landmark.
I then went straight to the 3rd floor and immediately saw The Urban Bakery Works.

The bakery has their own dining area,
and they features a self service food counter,
where you choose what you want,
bring it to the cashier and pay for it.
I chose the salted egg yolk custard croissant which costs HK22.
I dare not take pictures of the cafe,
cause it's almost packed with people,
and usually cafes like these has a no photography policy.

It tasted like common Lau Sar Bao, only that this comes with a croissant crust.
I could not finish the whole thing,
so I ended up trashing half of it.
Sorry.
Not worth the trip.

I took the MTR towards Causeway Bay for the multi-story Forever 21,
but it's closed for renovation!
I was so upset about it!
I wandered around and found the escalator towards Eslite Bookstore 诚信书局,
I tried to look for a blank paged journal,
cause I'm thinking of starting a bullet journal,
but I couldn't find one that I liked.
So I left the place and took the MTR towards Mong Kok for shopping!!!
The weather was not hot, but it wasn't exactly comfortable to walk in.
I needed something cold,
so I went for some mango dessert at Hui Lau Shan 许留山.
I took the Mong Kok exit towards Ladies Street 女人街 and walked straight.
Hui Lau Shan will be on my left, Forever 21 on my right, and H&M right in front.
Such a perfect location.
First, I need to quench my thirst.
I got a seat at Hui Lau Shan and ordered the Pomelo and Mango with Sago 杨枝甘捞
It costs HKD49.

So I proceeded to H&M, where I bought 3 pieces of clothing.
I'm a happy girl!
This H&M is so HUGE, I had to stop and look for directions every now and then.
After H&M, I went to the opposite street and bought stinky tofu and Yakult smoothie/sorbet beverage.

I suddenly remembered that there's a Cotton On somewhere nearby, so I went to search for it and found it on the opposite side of Nathan Road.
But I didn't find anything to my liking as well.
On a side note, Cotton On's lighting is bad,
It's not just bad, it's VERY bad.
I had to squint to look for the dress sizes,
and I actually felt dizzy after some rummaging around.
The fitting room?
Nope!
Terrible lighting,
I had to use my mobile's flashlight to look at the dresses properly.
The fancy lights are a waste of money.
After Cotton On,
I went to Langham Place which is right behind the building,
and went to shop at H&M AGAIN!
I know,
I'm a H&M fanatic!
I bought another 3 pieces of clothing!
Woohoo!
I felt hungry after that,
so I took the MTR towards Yau Ma Tei in search for Mido Cafe.
Take Exit C, turn right and walk all the way straight until you see Public Square Street 众坊街
OR you can just walk from Mong Kok...
I'm just lazy.
Plus I'm not sure which direction I should go from Mong Kok.
I saw online reviews of Mido Cafe 美都冰室 for their pork ribs rice, and I'd love to try it!

I was directed to the upper floor, even though the lower floor has no customers.
The cafe has a traditional HK cha can teng 茶餐厅 setup.
I was seated at a booth,
and ordered the Tomato pork ribs with rice and sprite.

The tomato sauce is very tasty,
the ribs are a little hard to the tooth, but decent.
I would love to try their other dishes, cause they offers so much more!
There will be next time, Mido Cafe!
But the atmosphere was quite scary though.
I arrived at the dining area with ang mohs in full suits with bow ties,
and also men in white formal suits talking about business with people with tattoos and loud body language.
I was kinda terrified at one point,
but I just decided to not look around and just focus on my food.
My meal costs HKD75.

I headed back to the ferry terminal after that cause I was feeling very much exhausted.
So I caught the 5.15pm vessel and went home!
