I've finally settled everything in relation to my resignation.
Hence, it's time for me to blog about the process.
I'm a Malaysian working at a hotel in Macau.
Specifically, Wxxx Macau, which is abbreviated as WM.
Internally, we always refer to our company as WM,
hence if you don't know which company I'm talking about,
chances are you're not working at the same hotel as I do.
So...yeah.
This is meant for the WM team members.

First Stage: Resignation Letter and Notice of Resignation
1. Type out a formal resignation letter.
2. Print out the Notice of Resignation from The Wire and fill it up accordingly.

4. Submit the Notice of Resignation to your department secretary. (If there's no secretary, just submit it to your department head with the resignation letter.)

Second Stage: Overseas Employee Services
1. Visit the Overseas Employment Service Window and inform them that you have submitted your resignation and would like to arrange your departure.
2. The person in charge will meet up with you to explain the separation guideline. There are 4 main topics to discuss about:
a. Air ticket
She will ask for your preferred date to go back to your hometown. This is closely related to your preferred method of receiving your final payment. Please see c. for more details.
The air ticket will be purchased by the Overseas Employee Services on behalf of you. If you need extra luggage allowances, tell them in advance.
b. Blue Card Cancellation
We will need to cancel our blue card by ourselves at the Immigration Office at Pac On. She will advise a date for you to cancel your blue card, which is closely related to the date that you'll be leaving Macau.
Once we cancel our blue card, we are only allowed to stay in Macau for 8 days. Hence, it is advisable to only cancel your blue card 2-3 days before your actual departure date.
An important reminder: After cancelling your blue card, you are NOT allowed to leave Macau before your actual flight departure date. It means, if you want to go for day trips to ZhuHai or Hong Kong or travel to other countries before leaving for good, do it BEFORE you cancel your blue card.

c. Final Salary Payment
Your salary will be issued 5-9 working days after you've completed your departmental clearance. There are 2 ways to receive your final salary: by cheque or by bank-in.
By cheque: You will receive a payslip. However, you can't return to your hometown before the cheque is ready as you need to collect it personally after 5-9 working days.
By bank-in: You will NOT receive a payslip. But you can return to your hometown sooner as the salary will be auto-deposited into your bank account by the company.
d. Working Reference Letter
A reference letter will be issued to you once you have cancelled your blue card.
---
As for me, my confirmation are as below:
Last working date : 28th May '17
Final Salary Option : by cheque
Cancelling blue card : 7th June '17
Departure date : 9th June '17

Third Stage: Departmental Clearance
Before your last working day, HR will arrange a meeting with you to explain the clearance procedure that needs to be done in order to process your final salary.
HR will give you a Separation Clearance Form to be filled in on your last working day. The form will list all the items that needs to be returned.
There are 4 places you need to go for the clearance:

Return whatever that is applicable to you. In my case, I only had the department manuals.
2. Uniform Room
You have to bring the following items to the Uniform Room counter:

- All accessories that was loaned from the Uniform Room.
3. IT Support & Development Office (map will be given)
Even if you did not receive any items from IT during your employment (Notebook, computers etc), you'll still need to get their signature for clearance.
4. Compensation & Benefits Service Window
This should be your last stop before exiting the company, you'll have to bring the following items:

After the main entrance, turn left.
You will see a desk on the right side giving out queue tickets.
Inform the service staff that you're here to cancel blue card, and they'll issue you a queue ticket. They might ask if you're the employer or employee, and if you're here alone or together with your company representative. They will also remind you that you will not be allowed to work in Macau for the next 6 months.
Take a seat and wait for your queue number to appear on the screen.
You might see a long queue at the front of counter T1-T7. Don't worry about them, they're there to have their picture taken for their blue card application. If your designated counter falls within T1-T7, and the entrance towards the counters are blocked by the long queue, just walk further down and enter using another counters' entrance.
At your designated service counter, inform the staff that you're here to cancel your blue card and hand over the 3 documents mentioned above. They are very friendly and might even chat with you.
They will fill in a form called 'Request for Cancellation of "Authorization to Stay for Non-resident Workers"' and ask for your signature.
Once done, they will leave the desk for awhile to process your cancellation request. They will return with a new arrival VISA stapled in your passport which states the date that you must leave Macau.
The blue card cancellation process is completed.
Before leaving, you MUST ask for a copy of the 'Request for Cancellation of "Authorization to Stay for Non-resident Workers"' form to be submitted to the Overseas Employee Services.
Without the form, you will not be able to retrieve your paycheck, air ticket and reference letter.

It's an A4 sized paper. I cropped and blurred out the content as I'm unsure if I could reveal it online.
The entire process took 40 minutes.
I then walked over to the Taipa Ferry Terminal to utilize the shuttle bus. I called the person in charge at the Overseas Services and told her I've cancelled my blue card.
She told me that she'll check if my cheque is ready to be collected.
She called me back 5 minutes later and said the cheque, air ticket and reference letter is ready, and I could go over and retrieve it immediately.
I arrived at the company at 1030am, and was escorted by Security to the Overseas Employee Service Window. I was then brought into their meeting room and was presented with my air ticket, cheque and reference letter.
I asked for an extra 20kg luggage allowance, hence I had to pay MOP590 in cash to the Overseas Employee Services.
There are a few papers to sign as well, that acts as a disclaimer that I've already received the documents.

Final Stage: Deposit your Cheque
In order for the money to be deposited immediately into your account, you have to visit the bank counter before 4pm.
I arrived at the main BNU branch around 1130am and successfully had the cheque deposited into my account.
Just bring the cheque, bank passbook and passport to the counter and they will do it for you.

AND that's all!
It seems complicated, but it's quite simple. Just follow the instructions given, plus the Overseas Employee Services will always be there to help you.
peace out
